Specimen labelled as the holotype of Cypraea carneola var. propinqua var. minima Dautzenberg & Bouge, 1933 aka Cypraea carneola propinqua minima Dautzenberg & Bouge, 1933. Dautzenberg & Bouge (1933: p. 270) used the name Cypraea carneola var. minima Vayssière, 1923; their specimen is not that of Vayssière (1923, Ann. Mus. Hist. Nat. Marseille, Zoologie 18: p. 47) and therefore cannot be the holotype. Furthermore the name is preoccupied by Cypraea minima Monterosato, 1897. The real identity of the specimen (to be established by a cowry specialist) is probably either Lyncina carneola (Linnaeus, 1758) or Lyncina propinqua (Garrett, 1879). 1° étiquette: Cypraea carneola var. propinqua var. minima Dautzenberg & Bouge, 1933 Holotype, Papeete loc. - MT 2494 - French Polynesia, 2°étiquette: Cypraea carneola Lin. v. crassa f. minor Cullieret leg & ded. 1890.
