Original name: Goniocidaris mortenseni Koehler, 1900 synonym of current name: Notocidaris mortenseni (Koehler, 1900) - AphiaID 569114 (urn:lsid:marinespecies.org:taxname:569114). RBINS, Ech.739 - Paralectotype - Expédition Antarctique "Belgica" 1897-1899, stn 8, sample 632, 69°59'S, 80°54'W, 300 m, 18 Oct. 1898. The photographs are based on the largest of the two specimens in the vial. The detached spines presumably belonged to it.
