Bulletin de la Société zoologique de France. 12: 187-287., available online at https://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/page/36024096 - page(s): 278, pl. 4 fig. 2 [details] NOTE (C. d'Udekem d'Acoz 21 Jan. 2021): there are strange things concerning the specimens registered as "MT.3849 syntypes of Ampullaria puntaplaya"; there are specimens from different localities and there are huge differences in shell morphology between specimens; I was wondering if more than one species was involved.This specimen was in the same plastic box as the syntypes and labelled as such, but this is obviously presumably not a type. Concerning the type locality, Cousin (1887) said: "Hab. — Cette espèce habite de petits cours d'eau (acequiâ ou Esterito). J'en ai recueilli un assez grand nombre derrière la maison de M. Hurtado à Punta-Playa."
